Weekly Photo Challenge: Nostalgic

This is me, a picture taken by my father probably sometimes around 1967/1968.
Apart from the obvious desire of being a kid again, I remember when the neighbor in Rome I was living was mostly small houses and buildings, lots of places to play, everything seemed safer and happier.
Maybe I am just being nostalgic.

    • I actually were. I feel lucky, had a wonderful time, highs and lows just like anybody else, but all in all I cannot complain, and as you said, I try to make sure my daughter gets the same treatment: lots of love and great hopes for tomorrow

  1. It’s great to look back on those days. Life is simpler, maybe not happier but it’s easier to be ‘happy’ back then. Beatiful photo for the theme.

    • Sure, there is a chance that everything looks better from a greater distance.
But most of what we all are now, is a gift from our childhood, and if I am still able at 50 to see life as bright as it can be, it’s because I have been lucky enough (maybe more than enough) to be a healthy, intelligent kid, to grow up in a civilized place, to be surrounded by the love of my family.
That doesn’t mean I don’t see problems alla around, just that I am one of the fortunate people, and I don’t want to forget it 🙂

      • I couldn’t agree more. Just like the saying goes, “Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. it means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.”

      • Yes. I also think that even the smoothest surface, if looked close enough, show imperfections. It’s the way you want to look at things, that sometimes define your attitude.

  2. I’m working on my post now but having difficulty finding words to convey my feelings re: the concept of nostalgia. d’uh….I guess that’s why we’re supposed to let the photo do the talking, which btw, yours did perfectly; Very good choice for the challenge!

    • Thank you. I happen to remember clearly those days, and the picture fits perfectly with my memories.
Just recently we had dinner with my schoomaltes, and for some of us it meant meeting after 35 years.
But the magic of being innocent and happy kinds was still there.
Once again: I was lucky, and appreciate that
